About
The Abandoned Landscapes project began in 2022. It draws upon the life experiences of Professor Brad Evans who grew up in conditions of acute poverty in the former mining valleys of South Wales.
This is an area blighted by social depravation, violence, abandonment, and widespread political apathy. It is an area that has become a quintessential example of post-industrial decline, which is having serious political and cultural implications.

"Written with authentic authority. It is evocative and excellent in every possible way".
Neil Kinnock
Former leader of British Labour Party
"Each carefully constructed sentence, every beautifully recorded or imagined moment, is placed alongside tragedy’s reality".
