About the Project

The Portraits of Violence book project (published by New Internationalist) brought together established academics and award-winning comic book writers and illustrators, to provide an accessible introduction to the most compelling ideas and episodes in the critique of violence.

Winner of a very prestigious Independent Publishers Award,  it features chapters from Hannah Arendt, Franz Fanon, Brad Evans, Edward Said, Paolo Freire, Michel Foucault, Susan Sontag, Noam Chomsky, Judith Butler, and Giorgio Agamben, who each have ten pages to tell their unique story in this innovative graphic title.
